A NOVEMBER AFTERNOON...ON THE CAUSEWAY

Saturday was a picture perfect day here on the Gulf coast...
After being cooped up in my studio, preparing for Art at Home, I needed a break. So MacDaddy and I drove down the street to the Dunedin Causeway...the entryway into Honeymoon Island...and the place we go just to get a tiny taste of "AHHHHHHHH.....".
We weren't the only ones with this idea...
This man was feeding (gasp!) the crows and sea gulls. This time of year, the crows migrate...usually they rest in the huge trees in our backyard. The sounds they make can be so great, that it's impossible to make conversation on the lanai.
Today, there were hundreds of crows in the palms that lined the causeway. It was an amazing sight to see...especially when they all swooped over the water and back. Sections of the blue sky were completely blocked out! It was an amazing sight!
And then there were the gulls....these silly guys actually posed for me!
(See that huge drift log at the top right corner? I WANT that!)
This guy actually seemed happy to be alone...but what you cannot see are the  tiny birds scampering in the seaweed. There were about a dozen running about. So CUTE!
Then there were the brave souls on sail boards, paddle boards, and in kayaks. Brave, I say, because we have seen many sharks in these waters. MacDaddy actually hooked a hammerhead that was bigger than his kayak! Yikes!
This grandmother and grandson were having a ball...didn't see them catch any fish, but they caught a lot of seaweed...and giggled a lot!
On the other side of the causeway, the egrets and seagulls were fishing...and waiting for handouts from the fishermen who were lining the shore. The BIG guy had lots of tasty treats...but he really worked for them.
A few sandpipers were scampering in front of me...as I walked back to the car.
Time to get back to the studio...

For those of you in the Tampa Bay area, please stop in on Saturday...we'd love to see you!!!
Jane

Oh, it's SO beautiful! It looks particularly wonderful to me as I sit staring out at the pouring rain and wind and temps in the low 40s! Terrific captures for the day -- any day!! Hope your week is going well!

Hi Jane,
Oh, so nice that you were able to get out for a bit. I'm still trapped in the house with this bathroom redo--the repiping really added days to the project. This means, I won't be able to make it up for Art at Home this year :(
The plumber is coming on Friday and Saturday to carve out a new half-bath...at least we will have our old bathroom back while he does that...
Karen (Shellbelle's friend) may get to your house this weekend...I hope to meet up with her later this month...
Soooo....have a wonderful time! I'll be thinking of you...maybe you can come down here for a stop at Sharky's someday ...:)

Oh yes....I love those day time 'getaways'. They're so relaxing and give us all the boost we need to get back to the mundane/and or/busy schedules of daytime routines.

I'm glad you took the time to go to the beach and to take us along with you. I enjoy watching the shore birds when we go to the beach, but I'm not as fond of the crows.
Thanks for visiting my site.

Love your photos, Jane! I head over to Lake Monroe when I want to get a bit of ahhh! It is a large lake that feeds into the St. John's River. I really love being there!

Hugs to you, sweetie! Pumpkin making is finished {yay! fun but ready to spend my time creating Christmas!}

I soooo want to come stay and visit for a night!! Maybe in January!

You're not going to the Renningers Extravaganza this weekend are you?
I'm going for 1 or two days hoping to find some lovely things to create with!

Love and hugs to you!
Becky

Great images to share with the family, and I can just imagine how lovely the day was. Blue skies and azure sea.

It's good to have a little break once in a while to recharge and what better way than to do it in nature

How I wish I could go the beach... although not in this weather. It's cold in Canada! Looks like you had a great day!

I always forget how pretty the simple things are. It seems we never have the time to enjoy them. Thank you for doing just that and reminding me that I need to take a minute to just remember and experience the beauty all around us!!!
