Preoccupied...

That word says it all... I am PREOCCUPIED.

The past 10 days have been absolutely crazy...first, Mom (91) fell and cut her head. Why? After 6 days in the hospital and an incredible number of tests, it was determined that she has crystals which shook loose in her ears (fixed, for the moment), that she has a virus in her blood stream, and that the arteries to her brain have narrowed, thus slowing the blood flow and causing dizziness. (This is the second time since April, that she has had extreme dizziness...first time, she had a mini stroke.) Surgery? Not at 91 yrs old! So now she is in nursing care, until she can learn to live with the dizziness....lots of commuting back and forth to her facility. It's an hour away...

This past weekend, my middle son, Music Guy, came home for a visit...the first in several months. Boy, do I love when he comes!!! I get to cook his favorite dishes (all contraband to my diet) and he always cleans up my computer for me. (All my boys could do this, but MG doesn't make fun of me when I ask "stupid" questions. He always tells me he is the "good son".) We had a wonderful time with him...and had a BBQ with all the guys and their ladies...and Drummer Boy did the cooking!!! (8 lbs of ribs, BBQ pork, beans, mac and cheese, cole slaw, fresh fruit, garlic bread) Lots of laughter...lots of food...lots of teasing...lots of LOVE.

Painting.... I am in "painting mode". Up until the dawn cracks (or is that noise my bones from sitting so long?) I am getting ready for the next Art House in early October, plus working on a couple of commissioned pieces. And I am working on the next two "creativity" presentations I will be doing in the next few weeks...

commissioned for Cindy's birthday...loves crabs, jewelry, and Chanel. The "diamond" ring shines with metallic gold and hints of sparkle, the rings are shiny gold, the bracelet is gold and "ruby" metallic, and the "pearls" are iridescent. It's a Crab with BLING...just like Cindy. :-)

36" x 36" Hibiscus...for my bedroom. Over the headboard.

So...I will not be posting much for awhile. But I will try to keep up with your beautiful posts.
I'll see you soon....

Jane

You are a busy lady! So sorry to hear about your mom, we are having some health issues with mine also and it definitely keeps me hopping. Glad that your son got to visit, it looks like you had a wonderful time. And glad to hear that you are busy painting and that you are doing the Art House again this year. Can't wait to see what you come up with!

It's very rare for us to have all of our sons under one roof. I love it when it happens though.

sorry bout your mom...my friend has that vertigo problem...the crystals in her ear go haywire and she has to lay flat for 2 wks at a time to get them right again. Weird. I'd never heard of that before. Enjoy your painting...it will be what keeps you sane during this time. and your boys? so precious!!

Wow, Jane, you're super busy! I'm sorry to hear about your mom...I have a mom like that (she's 90) with problems of falling down, falling down. It's a scary thing. She's in an assisted living situation where she gets a lot of assistance.

But, you have sunnier things to think about too...cooking for kids and painting. I'm looking forward to coming to your painting exhibit this October. I wonder if Rhonda from Shellbelle will turn up too...she talks about a gathering of bloggers in November...that should be fun!

So sorry to hear about your mom, but loved hearing all the other great news! I wish I could see my son, darn this economy that makes it impossible for either of us to make that cross-country flight. He is a good son though and calls his momma on a regular basis.

I guess I better go over and tell Becky I'll be there for Art House! Email me or call me when you have the exact date, so I can make sure I don't have a deadline. You know that's the only thing that would keep me away!

That Blue Crab with Bling still makes me smile and the hibiscus it gorgeous! I really need to learn to paint.

Hugs from my coast to yours.

Hi Jane, thank you so much for popping by my blog. I really loved your comments, very sweet! And here is your "Music Guy" son you must have been talking about!! Must have been lovely to have him home and for him to cook for you! I'm looking forward to those days!! Your poor Mum, I hope she's coping OK in the nursing home and that she'll be back up and about very soon. And you still have time for art! The paintings are beautiful, I'm loving the crab! It's got real character, it's fun doing something for someone you know or know what they want... I'll be doing a post about making a family of Flotsam Friends dolls for a girlfriend's 40th. Kindest, Pruxxx

Hello Jane,

I am sorry to hear your mom is having health issues. I will keep her in my prayers. Sounds like you had a great time with the boys! Lots of food and fun! You already know how much I love the hibiscus! The blue crab is too funny - a crab with bling! Congratulations on the success of your Big Shoes painting! I like your new layout and background.
